Why it matters

Why Backups Matter More for Law Firms

Client files, email and billing records are the core of your practice. Losing them to ransomware, a failed server, accidental deletion or a flood can mean missed deadlines, lost billable time and difficult conversations with clients.

Many firms also have to show clients and cyber insurers that their data is backed up and recoverable.

A backup is only useful if it works when you need it. We set up, monitor and test backups for your whole firm, so restoring a deleted file or recovering from a ransomware attack is a plan, not a scramble. Backups are also a core part of our cybersecurity services for law firms.

Recover from ransomware

Restore clean copies of client files and email instead of facing a ransom demand.

Survive hardware failure

Get back up and running when a server or computer fails.

Less downtime

A tested recovery plan shortens the time attorneys can't work.

Answers for insurers

Clear backup details for cyber-insurance applications and client questionnaires.

FAQ

Questions Law Firms Ask Us

How often are backups taken?

Backup frequency depends on your systems and how much work your firm can afford to lose. We recommend a schedule as part of your plan, typically at least daily for client files.

Doesn't Microsoft 365 already back up our email?

Microsoft keeps your service running, but deleted items are only kept for a limited time. A separate Microsoft 365 backup lets your firm recover email and files that were deleted, overwritten or encrypted by ransomware.

Can good backups help with cyber insurance?

Yes. Most cyber insurers ask about backups. We provide the backup details insurers ask for, and can help with the rest of the application through our IT consulting for law firms.

Is backup included in managed IT?

Yes. Backup monitoring and recovery planning are managed as part of our managed IT services for law firms.
